Hey everybody. Thank you for coming to my website.

1. I just found out that I’ve been selected for the SFJAZZ High School All-Star Quintet. This is a smaller version of the SFJAZZ High School All-Star Ensemble, which I have been playing in since September. The quintet should be really great as all the members are awesome: Billy Buss on trumpet, Julian Pollack on piano, Joe Costantini on bass, and Michael Davis on drums.

We will rehearse several times under the direction of trumpeter Dimitri Metheny. Then several members of the SFJAZZ Collective will coach us. The Collective is an incredible band made up of some of my favorite current musicians: Joshua Redman, Nicholas Payton, Miguel Zenon, Bobby Hutcherson, and others. We will also be opening for the Collective on March 10th at the SFJAZZ Spring Season Opening Gala. The Collective is one of my favorite bands – I’ve been listening to their CDs and going to their concerts for a while now – so I’m really excited about this.

2. On December 29, 2005 my group, the Jesse Scheinin Quartet, went into a recording studio and made a demo. We spent about 3 hours (plus mixing and mastering) in there and I’m really happy with the results. The band was killin’: Pascal Le Boeuf on piano, Hans Bernhard on bass, and Michael Davis on drums.

I have known Pascal and Hans since starting Grade 7 at Pacific Collegiate School. Pascal is a fantastic pianist who is now a sophomore at Manhattan School of Music in New York. I've been lucky enough to play with Hans a lot in the past: he was one of the first musicians I played with regularly. He now studies bass at USC. I play with Michael Davis in the SFJAZZ All-Star Band. He is a high school senior from San Jose and is one of the best drummers I have ever played with. There is also a lot of other great free music on myspace. Just look at my friends list: You can hear tracks from Chris Potter, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Jeff “Tain” Watts. Check it out.

4. The Jesse Scheinin Quartet will make its second performance at the Agenda Lounge in San Jose on February 24, 2006.
